Windows VPS Windows Server 2022 and 2019 on KVM

A Windows VPS at VMHeaven is a KVM virtual machine running Windows Server 2022 or 2019 that you manage as Administrator over Remote Desktop, from €4.99 a month in Amsterdam. Every KVM line can be ordered with Windows; it runs on the smallest plan, and we recommend 40 GB of disk or more. It comes on an evaluation licence — activate your own key whenever you like.

01What you get

What do I get with a Windows VPS?

A complete virtual machine with Windows Server on it, run by you: Remote Desktop, the network settings and the software are yours to configure.

Your own KVM virtual machine

KVM is full virtualisation: your VPS has its own virtual hardware and its own Windows installation. It is not a user account on a shared Windows server, and nobody else logs in to it.

Administrator from the first login

You set the Administrator password in the order form and connect over Remote Desktop with it. Install any software, add users, change firewall rules and Windows settings.

Reinstall from the panel

Start again on a clean Windows Server 2022 or 2019, or switch the same VPS to Linux — from the panel, without a ticket. A reinstall erases the disk.

A VNC console when RDP is gone

A firewall rule, a wrong RDP port or a VPN client can cut off Remote Desktop. The VNC console in the panel shows the screen anyway, so you can log in and undo it.

IPv4, plus IPv6 when available

Every VPS gets its own IPv4 address, and an IPv6 prefix when the location has one free. Windows does not configure IPv6 by itself — add the address in the network adapter settings if you need it.

Backups and DDoS protection

Back up the whole disk from the panel before a big change and restore it if something breaks. Always-on DDoS mitigation sits in front of every server, in both locations, at no extra cost.

02Licensing

How does Windows licensing work on the VPS?

The price covers the server, not a Windows licence. What you start with, how to bring your own key, and what Remote Desktop allows.

It starts on an evaluation licence

Windows Server is installed from our template on Microsoft's time-limited evaluation licence, which is the full product. No licence is included in the price. When the evaluation runs out, Windows shuts itself down at intervals until it is activated.

Activate your own key

Bring a key whenever you like. An evaluation converts in place only to an edition Microsoft allows for it, so ask support before you buy or apply a key — they help you with the switch.

Two admin sessions over RDP

Windows Server includes two simultaneous Remote Desktop sessions for administration. More people working at once need the Remote Desktop Session Host role and RDS CALs from Microsoft, which we do not sell.

03Plans

Which Windows VPS plan do I need?

Windows runs on every plan, so the cheapest Windows VPS costs €4.99 a month. Standard KVM gives you the most vCores per euro; Hi-CPU KVM puts fewer vCores, on AMD EPYC 7443, behind the same prices. Prices are for Amsterdam.

Standard KVM

Parallel workloads
Intel · DDR4 ECC

For IIS and .NET applications, build agents and anything that runs many tasks side by side: 2 to 32 vCores across nine sizes.

Hi-CPU KVM

AMD EPYC 7443 · ECC

For single-threaded software and trading terminals that lean on one or two cores: 1 to 14 vCores across nine sizes, at Standard KVM's prices.

HI-CPU 448 GB ECC80 GBRecommended for Windows€19.99/mo
All 9 Hi-CPU KVM plans

Windows Server runs on every plan, the €4.99 one included. Updates and your own software fill a 20 GB disk quickly, so plans with 40 GB or more are marked as recommended for Windows.

Outgrown your plan? Upgrade from the panel. The disk grows, but Windows keeps the old partition size — extend C: afterwards in Disk Management (right-click C: → Extend Volume).

Setup starts automatically once the payment is confirmed. Windows' first boot sets up the system and takes a few minutes — longer than a Linux image.

Pay by card, PayPal or crypto, at the same price — Windows RDP paid in crypto walks through the crypto checkout.

Windows also runs on DMCA Ignored KVM (from €5.99 in Amsterdam, €8.99 in Frankfurt) and Pentesting KVM (from €6.99 in Amsterdam, €8.99 in Frankfurt). Want Windows in a particular country? See Netherlands RDP and Germany RDP.

04Workloads

Which line fits my Windows workload?

Windows Server 2022 and 2019 run on all four KVM lines. They differ in hardware, in what you may do on the network, and in where you can order them.

Standard KVM

Many parallel tasks

For IIS sites and .NET applications, build agents and jobs that run many tasks in parallel. Intel with DDR4 ECC, 2 to 32 vCores, from €4.99 in Amsterdam.

All 9 Standard KVM plans

Hi-CPU KVM

Single-threaded software

For single-threaded applications and trading terminals that wait on one core rather than many. Fewer vCores per plan on AMD EPYC 7443, at Standard's prices. Trading? See Forex VPS.

All 9 Hi-CPU KVM plans

DMCA Ignored KVM

Relaxed takedown policy

Standard KVM hardware with a relaxed takedown policy, in Amsterdam and Frankfurt: a US DMCA notice has no legal force here. Local law and the Acceptable Use Policy still apply. From €5.99 in Amsterdam, €8.99 in Frankfurt.

All 9 DMCA Ignored KVM plans

Pentesting KVM

Security tooling

For security tooling: scanning is allowed within the Acceptable Use Policy, from an isolated network segment, against systems you own or are authorised to test. Amsterdam from €6.99, Frankfurt from €8.99.

05Hardening

How do I secure a new Windows VPS?

Bots scan Remote Desktop on every public IP address around the clock. Do these five things before you put anything on the server.

  1. 01

Set a strong Administrator password when you order

The password you enter in the order form is the Administrator password. Make it long and unique: bots try common passwords against Remote Desktop on every public IP address.

  2. 02

Move RDP off port 3389 and allow only your IP

Change the Remote Desktop port and restrict the firewall rule to your own address — firewall rule first, so you never lock yourself out. Our guide has the PowerShell commands.

  3. 03

    Leave Network Level Authentication on

NLA makes a client sign in before Windows creates a session, so an unauthenticated connection never gets a login screen. Check that it is on (System Properties → Remote) and do not switch it off to make an old client work.

  4. 04

Set active hours for Windows Update

Some updates need a restart. Set active hours in Windows Update so Windows does not restart while your workload runs, and schedule restarts yourself.

  5. 05

Add a VPN without locking yourself out

A full-tunnel VPN on the server reroutes Remote Desktop's replies and cuts your session. Our guide shows how to keep RDP reachable with a bypass route and a failsafe.

06FAQ

Windows VPS: questions

Everything you need to know before deploying — and a human if you need more.

A Windows VPS is a virtual private server that runs Windows Server instead of Linux. At VMHeaven it is a KVM virtual machine with Windows Server 2022 or 2019, its own IPv4 address and the Administrator account, hosted in Amsterdam or Frankfurt. You manage it over Remote Desktop like any Windows server — it is your own RDP server, not an account on a shared one.

Windows Server 2022 and Windows Server 2019, on every KVM line and every plan. You pick the version in the order form, and you can switch between them — or to Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS Stream or Rocky Linux — with a reinstall from the panel. A reinstall erases the disk, so take a backup first.

No. Windows is installed from our template on Microsoft's time-limited evaluation licence, and the price covers the server only. Activate your own key whenever you like; the edition has to match, so check with support before you buy one. If the evaluation runs out, Windows shuts itself down at intervals until it is activated.

Windows Server runs on every plan, the €4.99 one included: the smallest Standard KVM plan has 4 GB of RAM, the smallest Hi-CPU KVM plan 2 GB. Updates and your own software fill a 20 GB disk quickly, so we recommend 40 GB or more. Size the RAM for what you run; if you outgrow the plan, upgrade from the panel and extend C: in Disk Management — no reinstall needed.

Setup starts automatically once your payment is confirmed — nobody reviews the order by hand. Windows' first boot then sets up the system and takes a few minutes, longer than a Linux image. Until Remote Desktop answers, the VNC console in the panel shows you the screen.

Two, for administration. Windows Server includes two simultaneous Remote Desktop sessions without extra licences. More people working at once need the Remote Desktop Session Host role and an RDS CAL for each user or device from Microsoft; we do not sell RDS CALs.

No. The order form and the reinstall dialog offer Windows Server 2022 and 2019 from our templates, plus the Linux distributions. There is no Windows 10 or 11 image, and the panel has no ISO upload.

Yes — every plan can be paid by card, PayPal or crypto (Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Litecoin, Monero and more), at the same price; our Windows RDP page walks through the crypto checkout step by step.
