VMHeaven

Netherlands RDP Windows Server in Amsterdam

A Netherlands RDP at VMHeaven is your own Windows Server 2022 or 2019 KVM server in Amsterdam, with the Administrator login, from €4.99 a month. All four of our VPS lines are sold here, and each of them can be ordered with Windows. Windows takes a few minutes longer than a Linux image to finish its first start; then you connect over Remote Desktop as Administrator.

Which Windows plans can I get in Amsterdam?

Every VPS line at its Amsterdam price: the smallest plan Windows runs on, and the first one with the disk we recommend for it.

Windows Server 2022 and 2019 can be picked on every plan in the table, the €4.99 one included. Windows updates and your own software fill 20 GB quickly, though, so for everyday use take 40 GB or more — the right-hand column.

Windows runs on a time-limited evaluation licence, and you can activate your own key at any time. The licence and the Administrator account are explained on Windows VPS.

Windows in Frankfurt starts at €8.99 on the lines sold there — see Germany RDP.

02Lines

Which line should my Netherlands RDP run on?

Windows runs the same way on all four. What differs is the hardware, the IP range and what the line lets you do.

Standard KVM — the everyday desktop

The most vCores per euro, from 2 to 32 across the ladder, on Intel with DDR4 ECC. Right for an always-on desktop, browser automation and office software. Its address comes from a separate range, kept apart from DMCA Ignored and Pentesting.

Hi-CPU KVM — one or two busy threads

Fewer vCores per plan, on AMD EPYC 7443 with ECC memory. Suited to software that spends its time in one or two threads, such as trading terminals — Forex VPS covers that use. Addresses from the same range as Standard.

DMCA Ignored KVM — relaxed takedowns

Standard's Intel hardware with relaxed takedown handling: a US DMCA notice is filed, not forwarded to you. Whatever the Acceptable Use Policy forbids stays forbidden.

Pentesting KVM — scanning tools allowed

nmap, masscan and zmap are allowed here, against systems you own or are authorised to test. It runs on AMD EPYC in an isolated network segment. An ordinary remote desktop does not need this line.

03Jurisdiction

What law applies to an RDP in the Netherlands?

Two layers: the law of the country the server stands in, and the contract you sign with us.

Dutch and EU law where the server stands

Your server is in Amsterdam, so Dutch law and EU law apply to it, and personal data on it falls under the GDPR.

A German contract, one AUP on every line

Your contract is with VMHeaven in Hamburg and is governed by German law. The Acceptable Use Policy is part of it on every line, DMCA Ignored and Pentesting included.

A US DMCA notice has no legal force

The DMCA is a US law and does not bind a server in the Netherlands. On DMCA Ignored KVM such a notice is filed without being forwarded to you. What the AUP forbids, and orders from an authority with jurisdiction, are acted on whatever the line.

04Latency

Is Amsterdam close enough for a smooth remote desktop?

Remote Desktop is interactive: every keystroke and every screen update travels the route between you and the server. Measure that route from where you are.

Test it yourself

from your browser

How fast is VMHeaven from where you are?

We time the round trip from your browser to our website, which is served through Cloudflare. It is not a ping to a VPS node in Amsterdam or Frankfurt — a rough guide to your own connection, measured live.

6 samples · median · your ISP, Cloudflare and our web server

  • In a remote desktop you feel your own round trip more than the server's bandwidth. The test here measures it from your browser to our European edge.
  • Amsterdam has a long-established density of international carriers, with traditionally strong routes towards the UK, the Nordics and across the Atlantic.
  • Amsterdam and Frankfurt are close neighbours on the network; how either one feels from where you are depends on the route your provider takes.
  • If you restrict Remote Desktop to your own IP address, allow UDP 3389 as well as TCP: RDP uses UDP for a smoother picture on lossy connections and falls back to TCP without it. Our port guide shows both rules.

The most honest test is a working day on the server itself: order the smallest plan for one month and use it from your usual connection, at your usual hours. Our location guide explains how to read a route with mtr.

05Connect & pay

How do I connect and pay?

Four steps from the order form to your first session in Amsterdam.

  1. 01

    Configure the server

Choose Amsterdam, a plan from the table, Windows Server 2022 or 2019, and the password for the Administrator account.

  2. 02

Pay by card, PayPal or crypto

The invoice is in euro. Pay it by card or PayPal, or in crypto through Cryptomus — BTC, ETH, USDT, LTC, XMR and more.

  3. 03

    Wait for the first boot

Once the payment is confirmed, the server is built without anyone reviewing the order. Windows then needs a few minutes longer than Linux for its first boot.

  4. 04

    Open Remote Desktop

Connect with mstsc on Windows, the Windows App on macOS, iOS or Android, or Remmina on Linux. If RDP does not answer yet, the VNC console in the panel shows the screen.

06FAQ

Netherlands RDP: questions

Everything you need to know before deploying — and a human if you need more.

Your own. Each plan is a separate KVM virtual machine in Amsterdam with its own Windows installation, its own IPv4 address and the Administrator account — no other customer has a login on it. If you need a whole physical machine, that is a dedicated server.

Standard KVM starts at €4.99 a month, Hi-CPU KVM at €4.99, DMCA Ignored KVM at €5.99 and Pentesting KVM at €6.99, all with Windows available. The first plan with 40 GB — our recommendation for Windows — costs €9.99 on Standard KVM. Paying for a longer term in advance lowers the monthly rate by up to 15%.

Yes. Both versions run on every line and every plan in Amsterdam, the smallest included. You pick Windows Server 2022 or 2019 on the order form and can reinstall either from the panel at any time.

Yes, whenever you like. The server starts on a time-limited evaluation licence — no licence is included in the price — and you can enter your own key at any time. Licensing details are on Windows VPS.

Dutch and EU law, because that is where the machine stands — the GDPR included. Your contract is with VMHeaven in Hamburg under German law, and our Acceptable Use Policy applies on every line. A US DMCA notice has no legal force here; on DMCA Ignored KVM it is filed rather than forwarded.

Amsterdam, unless you need Germany specifically. All four lines are sold here and it is the base price; Frankfurt is charged as its own, higher row, and Windows there currently starts at €8.99 on the lines in stock. For a remote desktop, the difference is mostly jurisdiction and price. Frankfurt in detail: Germany RDP.

Yes. Reinstall it from the panel with Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS Stream or Rocky Linux — no ticket needed. A reinstall starts from a clean image, so back up your data first. It works the other way round, too.

You get your own IPv4 address from our Amsterdam pool, plus an IPv6 prefix when the pool has one free; Windows does not configure IPv6 by itself, so add it in the network settings. Which country a website shows for the address depends on the geo-IP database it uses — these are updated on their own schedules and do not always agree, so we do not promise a particular result. Standard and Hi-CPU draw from a different range than DMCA Ignored and Pentesting; if the lookup matters to you, check it on the line you plan to use.
