01Ports
10Gbps, 40Gbps and 100Gbps ports: which speeds can I get?
Two rows you can order today with their live price and stock, and three port sizes we fit on request. The faster ports have no list price on this page: each one is quoted for the project.
The 10 Gbit/s builds can be ordered straight away, with live stock and prices below. Faster ports are fitted to order: you tell us the port, the machine and how your traffic runs, and the price, the traffic terms and the handover date are confirmed before you pay. Every machine stands in Amsterdam, behind always-on DDoS protection.
| Port | Traffic | Price per month | Availability | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Gbit/s | 1 Gbit/s included, on Standard, Pentesting and DMCA Ignored Dedicated | from €280 | 3 of 7 builds in stock | A busy website or API, a few hundred 1080p viewers, an origin behind a CDN |
| 10 Gbit/s | Unmetered, on Streaming Dedicated | from €530 | 3 of 7 builds in stock | An IPTV or OTT origin, a CDN node, a download mirror, nightly replication |
| 40 Gbit/s | Agreed in the quote | Custom quote | On request | Thousands of concurrent viewers, launch-day patches, a large edge node |
| 100 Gbit/s | Agreed in the quote | Custom quote | On request | A regional delivery node or a high-volume origin |
| 2×100 Gbit/s | Agreed in the quote | Custom quote | On request | Two 100 Gbit/s ports on one machine, for the largest single-server loads |
Every Streaming Dedicated build comes with its 10 Gbit/s port at the price in the table, and it is unmetered: you pay for the port, not for the terabytes that cross it, and nothing is counted. The other dedicated lines have the same 10 Gbit/s port, with 1 Gbit/s of usage included. For 40 Gbit/s or faster, the traffic terms are part of the quote, so ask for them in writing with the price.
Between two sizes, for example a peak of 20 Gbit/s: name the figure in your request, and the quote says which port carries it. The sizing rule further down, a peak at no more than 80 % of the port, puts 20 Gbit/s on a 40 Gbit/s port.
02Workloads
What needs a 10Gbps dedicated server?
A fast port pays off when many people pull data from one machine at once, or when a lot of data has to move in a short window. Most other servers never come close to 1 Gbit/s.
Live streaming, IPTV and OTT origins
Every viewer pulls their own copy of the stream, so the port grows with the audience: concurrent viewers × bitrate. This is the most common reason to leave 1 Gbit/s behind.
Video on demand and media libraries
Large libraries served straight from the origin, without a CDN in front, or a busy catalogue that refills CDN caches after every release.
CDN nodes and origin servers
Your own edge node in Amsterdam for European users, or the origin that a CDN pulls from. Cache misses after a purge or a release arrive all at once.
Download and game update mirrors
Software releases, ISO images and game patches peak on day one, when everyone downloads the same files in the same hour. The port, not the disk, usually sets the ceiling.
Backups and replication
Moving 50 TB at line rate takes about 111.1 hours over 1 Gbit/s and about 11.1 hours over 10 Gbit/s. A faster port shortens the window for offsite copies, database replicas and migrations between sites.
When 1 Gbit/s is enough
Applications, databases, game servers and most websites rarely reach the port limit. Measure your real peak first; for many projects the 1 Gbit/s of usage included on the other lines is the cheaper answer.

03Throughput
How much traffic does a 10Gbps server move?
Port speeds are counted in bits per second, files and traffic volumes in bytes. What each port moves at line rate, and how many viewers it carries at a safe load:
| Port | Per second | Per day at line rate | Per 30-day month at line rate | 1080p viewers at 6 Mbit/s | 4K viewers at 20 Mbit/s |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Gbit/s | 125 MB/s | 10.8 TB | 324 TB | 133 | 40 |
| 10 Gbit/s | 1.25 GB/s | 108 TB | 3,240 TB | 1,333 | 400 |
| 40 Gbit/s | 5 GB/s | 432 TB | 12,960 TB | 5,333 | 1,600 |
| 100 Gbit/s | 12.5 GB/s | 1,080 TB | 32,400 TB | 13,333 | 4,000 |
| 2×100 Gbit/s | 25 GB/s | 2,160 TB | 64,800 TB | 26,666 | 8,000 |
Two formulas cover most sizing. The port you need is concurrent viewers × bitrate at your peak, kept at no more than 80 % of the port so there is room for bursts and retransmissions; the viewer columns above use that rule. The volume a port moves is its speed × time × average load, divided by 8 for bytes.
A worked example: 5,000 concurrent viewers at 6 Mbit/s add up to 30 Gbit/s at peak. That is past a 10 Gbit/s port and fits a 40 Gbit/s port with headroom.
Hardly any port runs at line rate all month. A 10 Gbit/s port that averages 40 % over a 30-day month still moves about 1,296 TB, which is why the unmetered 10 Gbit/s builds bill the port and never the volume.
The bitrates are examples: 6 Mbit/s for 1080p and 20 Mbit/s for 4K are common targets, and your encoder settings set the real figure. With adaptive bitrate many viewers take a lower rendition, so sizing for the top one is the safe upper bound.
04Quote
How do I request a 40Gbps or 100Gbps quote?
By e-mail, on Telegram or on Discord, from a person who reads the whole request. Nothing is charged until you accept the quote and pay the invoice.
- 01
Send the request
Write to us with the port you want and the details listed below. A rough figure is fine; a measured peak from your current setup is better.
- 02
We check the build
Our team checks which machine and port fit your load, and asks back if the traffic profile or the hardware leaves a question open.
- 03
You get a custom quote
The quote names the machine, the port, the monthly price, the traffic terms and the handover date, all in writing and before you pay.
- 04
Pay and take over
You pay the prepaid invoice by card, PayPal or crypto, our engineers set the machine up, and you log in on the confirmed date.
What to put in the request
- The port: 40, 100 or 2×100 Gbit/s, or the peak you need to carry
- Your traffic over a day: the peak, the average, and how long the peak lasts
- The monthly volume you expect, in terabytes, if you know it
- The machine from the table below, or the cores, memory and disks you need
- What runs on it: live or VOD delivery, a mirror, a CDN node, replication
- When you need it and for how long: the start date and the billing term
What the quote confirms
- The machine and the port, with the number of ports
- The monthly price and the billing term
- The traffic terms for that port
- The handover date
Need 40, 100 or 2×100 Gbit/s? Tell us the port, the build you have in mind and how your traffic runs over a day. We reply with a custom quote, and the price and the handover date are confirmed before you pay.

What a fast port asks of the machine
A 10 Gbit/s port is only as fast as the slowest part behind it. Four things to check before you pick a build:
CPU: encryption and transcoding
Serving files or segments costs little CPU. TLS on every connection costs more, and live transcoding costs the most: each rendition of a ladder takes cores. Tell us which of the three you run.
Memory: the hot set
Content that many viewers request at once, such as a live stream's latest segments or a new patch, is best served from RAM. The more of the hot set fits in memory, the less the disks have to deliver.
Disks: read speed
A full 10 Gbit/s port is about 1.25 GB/s of reads. One SATA SSD stops well short of that, since the SATA III interface tops out at 6 Gbit/s; several disks in parallel or a RAM cache close the gap.
Line: the rules around it
Every line has a 10 Gbit/s port: unmetered on Streaming Dedicated, with 1 Gbit/s of usage included on the other lines. For 40 Gbit/s or faster, the quote names the line and its traffic terms.
How to measure what your disks deliver before the port becomes the question: test disk speed on Linux with fio.
06Network
Network notes for 10Gbps and high-bandwidth servers
What sits around the port, and what to know before you measure it.
- Amsterdam only: every dedicated server we rent out stands there, whatever its port. There is no dedicated server in Frankfurt or anywhere else.
- DDoS mitigation is always on in front of every dedicated server and filters volumetric attacks upstream, at no extra cost.
- Planning to run the port at line rate around the clock? Say so in the request, so the machine goes on a switch with room for it.
- One connection rarely fills a fast port across the internet: a single TCP stream moves at most its window size per round trip, so 10 Gbit/s at 20 ms round-trip time needs a 25 MB window. Many viewers, parallel downloads or several replication streams fill the port together.
For the route to your users, run ping, traceroute or MTR from Amsterdam to your own address on the looking glass, or measure latency and jitter with the ping test. For the way back, ping or trace our test address 45.153.34.90. The tools measure the route to Amsterdam, not one particular server.
Once the machine is yours, measure throughput with parallel streams rather than one: testing a server's network with iperf3 and mtr shows how, and bandwidth vs latency explains why a fast port does not shorten the round trip.
